C.F.B.I. COMMUNITY-BASED REHABILITATION SERVICES FOR THE HANDICAPPED
In April 1987, the Association established a new department dedicated to providing Community-Based Rehabilitation Services for individuals with disabilities.
These services encompass a wide range of essential activities, including orientation and mobility training, integrated education, public awareness initiatives, general rehabilitation, community health support, and assistance with job placement and resettlement. The aim is to empower persons with disabilities to lead independent and fulfilling lives within their communities—both in rural and urban areas of Chennai and other districts across Tamil Nadu.
The programme serves blind and low-vision individuals, those with orthopaedic disabilities, and persons with intellectual challenges, extending support to men, women, and children alike. Regular medical camps are organized, providing free medicines and healthcare for blind and disabled individuals. These medical services have proven to be a significant source of relief and support, greatly improving the quality of life for many blind and disabled families.
